NWP Resourcing (NWPR) has taken on Carillion staff in the wake of the construction firms collapse. The company went into liquidation following the banks’ refusal to provide further funding. It left thousands of contractors throughout the UK unsure about their futures and their current jobs.
In the last week, NWP Resourcing has contacted numerous temporary mechanical and electrical staff who have found themselves out of work due to the Carillion collapse. As a result, the specialist recruitment firm has been able to place plumbers, electricians, duct fitters and thermal engineers into new, long-term roles on projects throughout the country.
Director of NWPR Ben Leigh said, “Following the unfortunate collapse of Carillion and the subsequent job losses in some areas, we’ve been able to secure new roles for experienced staff within our leading projects throughout the country.”
Upon hearing the news about Carillion, NWPR consultants began calling candidates they had previously registered and knew were working on Carillion projects. With a wide range of first and second fix projects available in the UK, including Oxford, Chester, London and Glasgow, they were able to find new roles almost immediately.
Unfortunately for the construction sector, the fallout has led to many suppliers unable to reclaim on work already completed. Liquidators PwC have confirmed they will provide suppliers with commitment letters that ensure any work carried out during the liquidation process will be paid. However, any work carried out prior to 15th January will be treated as unsecured debt.
Consequently, many staff have been left without a wage for the work they had completed in the previous week(s). Ben Leigh said, “it was crucial that we were able to find work quickly for skilled tradesmen who had lost out as a result. It’s always particularly difficult for the construction sector in January and this naturally filters to those working on the ground. We’re pleased to have helped a large number of people find new roles that match their skill sets.”
Mechanical and electrical jobs
NWPR works with leading mechanical and electrical contractor NWP Ltd. It recruits specifically for plumbers, plumbers’ mates, electricians, electricians’ mates, laggers, duct fitters and thermal engineers.
It provides experienced staff with roles on a variety of projects including student accommodation, housing, commercial properties and hotels. The company is currently recruiting for projects in London, Glasgow, Chester and Oxford.
Why work with NWPR?
Unlike most recruitment specialists, NWPR offers two types of bonus schemes, a completion bonus and a loyalty bonus. This means that staff who complete projects from beginning to end benefit from a sizeable bonus at the end which can amount to thousands of pounds.
